Concordia is an advanced virtual constellation satellite data product that represents the next generation of the Harmonized Satellites Data by improving the algorithms and expanding the harmonization to include high-resolution commercial data sets, when available.
Harmonized data products combine outputs from multiple sensors to provide global coverage at high revisit rates and can be used for various applications, including vegetation monitoring, land use and land cover mapping, and monitoring of environmental changes 1 2 3. By integrating data from high-resolution commercial satellites with Landsat and Sentinel-2, Concordia not only increases coverage but also flexibility, enabling production of higher resolution data sets. Concordia offers unparalleled insights through algorithm advancements including a common atmospheric correction algorithm, improved cloud screening, advanced co-registration and denoising to produce spatially and temporally continuous data.

Individual pixel time series through agricultural fields near Carroll, IA. The plots show 7 years of Concordia output (2017 – 2023) in the Red and Near-infrared bands, as well as the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). Different pixels within the area of interest in the soybean (left) and corn (right) fields are shown. In all cases, the expected annual variation in NDVI can be seen.
Agriculture: The improved data quality and resolution support precision agriculture, optimizing irrigation, and monitoring crop health for better yield management.
Environmental Monitoring: Enhanced time series data aids in monitoring deforestation, land degradation, and other environmental changes, supporting conservation and sustainable management efforts.
Disaster Management: Cloud-free and high-resolution data improves the assessment and long-term response (not real-time) to natural disasters such as floods and hurricanes, enhancing disaster preparedness and long-term recovery strategies.
Base Layer for Other Satellite Imagery: Trusted basemap for other satellite imagery, providing a reference for data accuracy and correction.
AI Applications: Concordia data is optimized for AI applications, enabling advanced analytics and machine learning models to derive actionable insights from complex datasets.
